Rewari (Haryana), June 11: The Haryana police on Tuesday arrested one adult and five minor boys for gang-raping a minor girl in Rewari district in Haryana, a Northern state in India.


The seventh culprit is absconding and a manhunt has been launched to trace him, the police said.


According to the local police, five minor boys, aged between eight and 15, were among six accused arrested in connection with the gang-rape of a 10-year-old girl of their village on May 24.


One of the accused, also a minor, is absconding. The police said three of the accused are from the victim’s family.


The 10-year-old girl, who studies in Class III, was playing outside her house when the accused abducted her on May 24 and took her to a nearby school where they allegedly raped her.


The accused also made a video of the alleged crime, DSP Hansraj said adding the video was forwarded to two numbers.


The victim’s father filed a police complaint after the video of the alleged crime went viral on Tuesday.


Based on the complaint the police arrested an 18-year-old boy and five of his accomplices, all minors, on Tuesday night.


All seven accused have been booked under Sections 376-D and 354-C of the Indian penal code, the POCSO Act, the Information Technology Act, and the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes Act.


The minors were today produced before the Juvenile Justice Board, which sent them to the juvenile home.
