Jodhpur (Rajasthan), August 27: On Monday evening in the Jodhpur
district of Rajasthan, a 12-year-old girl gave birth to an infant. The minor
was allegedly raped by her classmate.
The incident has been reported from Balesar village and the victim
was raped by one of her classmates approximately eight months ago. The Jodhpur
police said, “We have detained three of her classmates in connection with the
incident. All three are minors.”
The incident of crime against the minor surfaced only after the childbirth
of the infant according to the police. A senior official of Jodhpur police said,
“Officials of Umaid Hospital called and informed us about the minor giving
birth to a child. We reached the hospital and then started the investigation.”
The mother of the victim was completely clueless about her alleged
rape, she was under the idea that her daughter might be only suffering from a
stomach ailment, like tumor, etc.
While talking to the police official, the mother stated that after
her daughter complained of severe stomach ache she immediately took her to
Umaid Hospital, this happened on Monday evening. The mother was informed by the
doctor after shifting the victim to the delivery room that her daughter gave
birth to a baby.
After the victim’s mother asked her daughter about the incident,
the girl narrated the tribulation she went through, about eight months ago one
of her classmates along with two other boys forcefully took her to a room in a
secluded place and then raped her.
The victim also said that she feared the terrible consequences of
the incidence, and hence did not inform anyone about what had befallen her.
The officer further said that the detained boys have accepted
their crime and while one of the boys raped her, the other two guarded the
room.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Balesar said that the
arrested minors have been booked under POCSO Act and several Indian Penal Code
(IPC) sections.
