Aurangabad (Maharashtra), October 12: Aurangabad Police have arrested a 35-year-old senior officer of Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) for allegedly molesting a young woman passenger on an express train on Thursday. A GRP officer familiar with the case said, that a complaint has been registered under Sections 354 and 509 of the IPC against the accused of outraging the modesty of the 25-year-old woman commuter.

The incident took place when the accused and the commuter were traveling from Hyderabad to Pune. In her complaint, the woman has alleged that the accused touched her inappropriately, removed her undergarment from her bag, sniffed at it, and then placed the same on his chest smilingly.

Alarmed the victim raised voice sensing a sexual assault, in turn waking up other passengers in the train and soon the accused was overpowered. The ticket collector also reached the bogie where the incident occurred and recorded the victim’s statement. What is most noteworthy is that the accused turned out to be an SP of Narcotics Control Bureau. He was finally handed over to the GRP officers at Parli station of Aurangabad, who arrested him for misbehaving with the young female passenger.

Later, when contacted, the NCB has confirmed the presence of the accused officer in their department. Along with this, a statement has also been given on this incident. NCB says the accused NCB official is on leave, and he is taking medication.

The accused is an SP with NCB and his name is Dinesh Chavan. The 35-year-old is a resident of Navi Mumbai. According to NCB officials, he had gone to Hyderabad in connection of trial of a case and was returning from there by train. The officer is on medical leave for the last several months and he is getting treatment. He has both mental and physical problems. NCB officials also told that at present Dinesh Chavan has not been posted anywhere nor is he a member of any operation.
