August 23: A special POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) Act court
sentenced a man to 10 years imprisonment for sexually assaulting a mentally
challenged youth in Mumbai on August 20.

Patil said that the accused Nikhil Bhole a 33-year-old man from Mumbai was
found guilty under POCSO Act and Indian Penal Code section 377 (unnatural
offences)
It was reported that
the mentally challenged youth whose mental age was assessed to be under seven
years was sexually abused by Nikhil Gokhle in Chembur area of Mumbai inside a
public toilet in 2016.
The youth being
mentally handicapped was unable to tell anything about the sexual assault until
one day facing some medical issues he was taken to the hospital for treatment
and the incident was revealed by the victim.
It took six months for the crime to be revealed and reported. Special public prosecutor Veena Shelar said that the prosecution examined seven witnesses during the trial and Nikhil Bhole was found guilty.
