Gaya (Bihar), May 26: A 60-year-old man was arrested for raping a minor girl on Sunday in Gaya in the North-Eastern state of Bihar in India. The elderly man was accused of raping the girl for over two months.
The family members of the girl lodged a complaint with the police. Police upon registering the complaint arrested the old man.
Sources said, the old man used to threaten the girl with a knife and used to rape her. The old man is the victim’s neighbour. This incident came to light when the 16-year-old girl got pregnant.
The family members of the girl went to the police station and lodged a complaint. According to the girl's statement, the accused Ashiq Mirja came to her house one day when her parents were not there.
He came to ask for water. When he confirmed there was no one in the house he threatened the girl by brandishing a knife. Then he raped the girl and threatened her with dire consequences if she told anyone about it.
The girl got scared and didn't tell anyone about this incident. After this, the accused started sexually exploiting the girl every day. It went on for almost more than two months but when the girl got pregnant the exploitation came to light.
Inspector Ravi Ranjana said that after registering the complaint, their team went on to look for the old man and arrested him when they found him.
The girl has been sent for medical examination and we are waiting for the result, the police said.
