Chennai, May 4: A 41-year-old man ended up in police custody for
kidnapping and sexually exploiting a woman. According to the police, the victim
is a mother of a nine-year-old boy and was residing close to a tea shop where
the accused was working.
The accused is identified as M Sakthivel of Anna Nagar. The
victim, a widow aged 35 went missing on Friday, April 30. Her son went in
search of his mother but when he didn't find her for long time, he told his
uncle.
Unable to find the women, the boy’s uncle lodged a complaint to
police. Police upon registering the case started looking for the woman and went
through the CCTV footage of the area near the victim’s resident. They found the
victim going out with the tea shop staff so the police began to look for the
tea shop staff. They traced Shaktivel on Saturday. When the police found Shaktivel
they arrested him.
On interrogation he refused to reveal anything and said he
didn't know anything about the victim who went missing. But police showed him
CCTV footage in which he was going out with the victim. When he saw the footage,
he revealed the truth that he kidnapped the woman and kept her at another
location.
After getting details about the whereabouts of the women, police
rescued her. The victim revealed that she was sexually exploited by Shaktivel and
further revealed that the accused tried to misbehave with her earlier also. She
had complained about this misbehaviour earlier to the tea shop owner where the
accused was working.
Police upon knowing the facts registered a complaint and sent
the victim for medical check-up. The accused has been sent to judicial
remand.
