(Andhra Pradesh), October 20: Andhra Pradesh police on Tuesday arrested a
68-year-old retired government employee for raping a minor girl in Hanamkonda
police station three days ago.
The police
said that the minor girl was raped by an elderly person at Parimala colony
under Kakatiya University Campus that falls under Hanamkonda police station.
The incident, however, came to light on Tuesday when the victim, who has been
suffering from fever and stomachache since the crime was committed, revealed
to her father about the rape incident by the 68-year-old accused, B
Bikshapathi, a retired superintendent in the education department.
The victim’s
father, a physically challenged person, approached the police and lodged a
complaint stating that his 13-year-old daughter was raped by their neighbour.
The local police quickly swung into action and arrested the accused and sent
the girl to the hospital for medical examination.
The victim’s
father, who worked in a bar had lost his job during COVID-19 pandemic. A local
police official told that they have registered a case against the accused under
the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012, and have started
investigations.
