Bilaspur (Chhattisgarh),
17 September 2021: A Bilaspur Court has rejected the bail petition of a 19-year-old
accused of sexually exploiting a minor girl multiple times and consequently
impregnated her. The accused, Jitesh Gidwani resident of Parsada under Chakarbhatha police
station, had established a sexual relationship with the victim on the
pretext of marrying her.
Earlier,
they had befriended each other through social media Instagram in 2020. The
victim is now seven months pregnant and in her complaint, she mentions that the
accused started avoiding her once she told him that she was pregnant.
The minor, a resident of Civil Lines, says that they started their friendship through
Instagram but soon enough they exchanged their phone numbers. One day the accused
called the victim to meet him. During this first date, the accused expressed his
love for her, trapped her in love, pretended to marry her and then forcibly
raped her.
Later too,
on multiple occasions, the accused on the pretext of marrying her soon kept on raping
the victim. Meanwhile, the minor was impregnated and she started pressurising
the accused to get married. The accused asked the victim to get an abortion,
but when she refused he stopped talking to her. Much later, the accused refused
to marry and started to shunt her altogether. Disturbed by the antics of the
accused the girl lodged a report in the police.
Based on the complaint, the police registered a case and arrested the accused, and sent him
to jail.
After
investigations, the police filed a charge sheet in the court. However, before
the commencement of the trial, the relatives on behalf of the accused submitted
a bail application. Considering the gravity of the matter, the court rejected
the bail application of the accused.
