Nanded (Maharashtra), September 2: Every time we hear a repugnant,
dreadful sexual assault, especially on minor girls, we feel this is the limit.
But time and again, we are proven wrong. The present case shows how even after
so many years of social work in India, we have failed to educate that women are
more than sex toys. We at Lifenews feel that we as a society have failed.
Such an appalling and obnoxious case has emerged in Nanded
district of Maharashtra. A 17-year-old minor girl was allegedly sold by her own
biological father multiple times over the span of few years to multiple men.
The men after buying her treated her as a sex slave, drugged her, confined her
and repeatedly raped her.
This obscene and abysmal case came to light after the girl filed a
complaint with Hadgaon police station in the Nanded district after finding
safety with her aunt’s (mausi) family.
Maharashtra Police have booked eight people in the case based on
the complaint. The accused include the minor girl’s father, her stepmother,
three men who bought her and kept her as sex slave, and a female pimp. The
police have booked them under several relevant sections of IPC and POCSO
Act.
Vijay Kabade, Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP), Nanded said,
“The minor was recently rescued by her aunt (her biological mother’s sister) and
other relatives from Satara. The girl had managed to contact her aunt over the
phone. Prima facie, it appears that the father would sell her to make money.”
The minor girl’s father, who is a casual labourer, initially sold
her to a man in Rajasthan’s Kota with the help of a woman pimp. It happened
when he was looking for employment in Aurangabad. According to ASP Vijay Kabade
this particular case has been transferred to Aurangabad police after a zero FIR
was registered.
As per the complainant, the minor was in Kota for a month during
which the alleged buyer used to give her sedative-laced drinks and repeatedly
raped her. He sent her back to Hadgaon when her health took a toll.
In another similar sordid deal, the father again made a deal with
a 45-year-old man from Nandurbar, who was to pay a total of Rs 2 Lakh in installments,
for receiving the minor and treating her as his sex slave. This 45-year-man
also raped her regularly for eight months. When he was unable to pay the last installment,
the minor’s father brought her back instantaneously.
In the most recent case, and from where her aunt saved her, the
minor’s father again sold her to a man from Satara. He too treated the minor as
his sex slave and also allegedly raped her regularly for several months.
Her aunt and other relatives rescued her after she managed to
alert them through a phone call.
Police is collating all information, investigating as per the
information shared with them and creating a fool-proof chargesheet that will
help get the minor justice.
