Delhi, October 17: A case of rape has been reported from Delhi, where a fifteen-year-old girl was allegedly raped by her 22-year-old cousin. The victim was
alone at her home when the crime happened. The accused has been arrested.
The
victim is a minor and a resident of Bapu Park area, Kotla Mubarakpur, Delhi.
The incident took place around two months back, when nobody was at home, her
mother was at her maternal home to visit her grandmother in Uttar Pradesh.
The
minor girl shared her ordeal with her mother on her return that her cousin
raped her in her absence. The accused is also a resident of the same locality.
He also threatened her after raping her that he will kill her if she discloses
the incident to anyone.
Knowing
about the incident the family of the victim immediately rushed to the nearby
police station and registered a complaint against the accused. Based on the
victim’s statements a case has been registered under Protection of Children
from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and relevant provisions of Indian Penal Code
(IPC) section 376 (rape) and 506 (criminal intimidation).
The
accused has been arrested by the police and investigations are ongoing, said a police
official familiar with the case.
