Hyderabad, (Telengana), July 20: Hyderabad police on Saturday arrested a
19-year-old youth on the charges of kidnapping and raping a 13-year old girl
belonging to Scheduled Tribe community in Vanashtalipuram area.
The local police said
that the accused, Sadarapalli Sai Kumar, who hails from Maddur in Mahbubnagar
district had moved to the city a few years ago and he was also arrested in 2018 in
Vanasthalipuram in a sexual harassment case. In 2021, he was also arrested for
two theft cases at Hayathnagar.
The accused started working in a tea stall upon his release from jail and
befriended the victim, who was his neighbor, and lured her on the pretext of
marriage and called the victim to his place where he sexually assaulted her.
The police registered a case of missing person
after she did not return home and launched a hunt to trace her. After she was
found, police recorded her statement and later added charges of rape, sections
under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and
Prevention of Atrocities (Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribes) Act, 1989, and arrested
the accused.
