Ballia
(Uttar Pradesh), September 29: A horrific and hideous case of sexual crime has
been reported from Uttar Pradesh’s Ballia. Even though mainstream media has not
shown much of an interest in the deteriorating law and order situation in the
state – opposition parties have been up in arms and claiming that the situation
has turned bad to worse under the present dispensation.
Uttar
Pradesh police on Tuesday said that they have arrested a tantric on charges of abduction and rape of a 17-year-old minor girl
for three months in Ballia district. The victim’s father had submitted a
complaint earlier of kidnapping but the Police took no demonstrable credible
effort to locate the girl.
The tantrik (a Hindu priest indulging in
black magic) had repeatedly raped the 17-year-old minor for three months after allegedly
abducting her from this Uttar Pradesh district, the police said. The accused,
Jog Baba (23), was arrested at Ballia railway station. The victim, who was
also with him, was rescued during the operation.
According to
Ajay Yadav, a senior police official familiar with the case, the accused
abducted the girl in June from her village which comes under the jurisdiction
of Revati police station.
In her
statement, the kidnapped rape victim told the police that she met the tantric for her treatment. Sensing the
opportunity God-sent he kidnapped her. He lured the victim and kept promising
to marry her; he took the rape victim to Delhi and Kota, and repeatedly raped
her for about three months.
Police have
sent the rape survivor to the district hospital for a medical examination,
Yadav the police official added.
Police had filed
a case against the accused after her father lodged a complaint of kidnapping against
the accused on June 30.
