Amroha (Uttar
Pradesh), September 16: A Class tenth student was kidnapped and raped on June
11 (evening) in Adampur police station area. The minor, a daughter of a farmer,
had gone to a secluded area for defecation. The accused Devkaran or Deva
reached kidnapped the minor girl from thereafter luring her.
The family
members tried hard to find their daughter but couldn’t find a clue. A passerby had
seen the victim with the accused. That eyewitness shared this information of Devkaran
kidnapping the girl with the family.
The father of the
victim registered an FIR against the accused based on this information. Police
swung into action and nabbed the culprit on the very next day i.e. 12th of June
and also recovered the minor girl from his captivity.
Later the girl narrated
the whole incident of how he kidnapped her and raped her. After arresting the
accused, the police sent him to jail, and also increased the sections of rape
in the trial and filed a charge sheet, and presented it in court. Presently, the
accused was out of jail on bail.
The case was presided
by Additional District and Sessions Judge of POCSO Court, Awadhesh Kumar Singh. Special Public Prosecutor POCSO, Basant Singh
Saini had strongly advocated on the behalf of the prosecution.
On the basis of
evidence and witnesses, the court convicted the accused Devkaran and sentenced
him to rigorous imprisonment of ten years and also slapped a fine of Rupees 58 thousand.
After the court’s judgment, the accused has been taken into custody again and
sent to jail.
