Pradesh), 16 July: A man allegedly raped his minor cousin in Lakhimpur
Kheri a district in Uttar Pradesh in India The incident took place on July
13 night. As per reports, the accused took the victim to his house and raped
her. Her medical examination confirmed the same.
On Tuesday, the eight-year-old girl was playing outside her house in Lakhimpur
Kheri when her cousin (a 26-year-old man) arrived with a labourer and a
resident of the Phoolbehad village. He took her to his house and raped
her, police said. The accused has been booked under section 376AB (rape of a
woman under 12 years of age) of IPC and relevant sections under the Protection
of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
The police recorded the
victim's statement in the presence of her mother on the same day when the crime
occurred and she was sent for a medical examination on Wednesday, July 14.
The Station House Officer (SHO) of Phoolbehad police station, Shyam Narayan Singh said that the girl’s medical examination confirmed that she was sexually assaulted. When the police questioned the accused, he admitted to having raped his cousin. So he was sent to jail. “The girl is stable. Now, we will record her statement in the court,” he added.
