Alwar (Rajasthan), July 28: The police in Alwar district of Rajasthan on Tuesday filed a charge sheet against the stepfather of two girls on the charges of raping one of them even as the mother was reported to have connived with the accused.

The police said that they have filed a charge-sheet against the accused in just three days after filing the FIR. The girls are living in an orphanage since their mother was also conniving with her husband in the rape case.

The two sisters aged 12 and 13 have been living in children home for the past year. “They had initially told about the rape to the authorities of the children home and later through the state legal services authority. I came to know about the incident on July 23 when the FIR was lodged. An FIR was lodged within 24 hours of the arrest of the accused. Now, we have filed the charge sheet on Tuesday on the third day since the accused was arrested,” said Tejaswini Gautam, superintendent of police, Alwar.

She said that police will also take up the case in a particular government scheme and will pursue the case for the faster conviction. “An officer would be designated for the task of the day-to-day hearings of the case and we are now aiming for faster conviction in the case.”

Police added that the father of the girls had died of cancer some years ago. Their mother started living with the man and he raped the 13-year-old girl some years ago. Later, he was attempting to rape the other girl.

“During my stint as Churu SP, we had filed charg-sheet against a rape accused of raping a four-year-old girl,” she said.
