Noida (Uttar
Pradesh), September 21: Police on
Saturday claimed to have arrested a person, who along with his relative’s help strangulated
his wife and dumped her body in Uttar Pradesh’s Ghaziabad after he suspected
his wife of having extramarital affair. The second accused is still absconding.
According to
the police, the two accused choked the victim to death and left her body in the
Kanavani area. The prime accused Lalta
Prasad, along with an associate, conspired to kill his wife and strangled her to
death using her own dupatta, the police said.
The accused
during the course of interrogation told the police that he married the woman in
a temple in Kannauj five months ago. It was after the wedding that he came to
know that she was already married to another person and also has a
four-year-old child, the police officials on the case said.
Lalta, a
driver, took the victim to Ghazipur market to purchase vegetables. On
Wednesday, the accused allegedly took her out for a drive towards Phase 2 in
Noida, along with his relative Deepanshu. The two choked her to death and left
her body in the Kanavani area, the police said. Deepanshu is still absconding,
said the police.
Opposition
parties in Uttar Pradesh have increasingly protested against the deteriorating
law and order situation in the state under the current dispensation, especially
in crimes against women, this and many other such cases show that their claims
seems plausible.
