Aligarh
(Uttar Pradesh), October 3: Reports of a horrendous and excruciatingly awful crime
done by a man has come to fore from Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College &
Hospital’s (JNMCH) Trauma Centre in Aligarh, where a mentally challenged girl
was allegedly raped around midnight on Thursday, 30th September.
The
victim, who post an accident in July, when she was in severe need of medical
attention, was admitted to JNMCH by an RPF officer.
The
horrific incident of sexual assault happened on Thursday midnight around 12:30
am. The emergency CMO in-charge brought to the notice of the security guard on
duty that the girl was not on her bed for some time. On enquiry, the security
personnel Sartaj Ali, found that the girl was missing from her bed for hours. He
felt that it was strange given the situation of the patient and her activities,
so he immediately started searching for her alongwith his supervisor Mohammad
Nadeem.
They
both searched for the girl in every conceivable space in the hospital. When
they were about to give up their search of the huge medical complex and were
about to inform their higher authorities and the police, they saw her coming
out of one of the restroom’s of the main lobby in a panic and terror-stricken state.
On hurriedly reaching there they found a young man standing behind her. Sensing
that now she was safe she accused the young man of wrongdoing. The security
personnel without losing any time overpowered the man and called the police, and
on their arrival handed over the culprit to the police.
The
victim is a 22-year-old mentally challenged woman who was admitted there by an
RPF officer after being severely injured in an accident on July 18. Since that
day she has been hospitalised and undergoing required treatments. There is no
information about her family or relatives, and it is the hospital staff who
have been taking care of her since she was admitted to the Medical College’s
Trauma Centre.
Doctors
told the police that the girl could not speak, and till now she has just told her
name and nothing else. Authorities were trying to get more information so that
she could be united with her family and loved ones.
Simultaneously
alongwith the Police, Medical College authorities were also informed. The
accused was handed over to the Police in their presence, who has been arrested,
and a case of rape has been registered against the accused based on the
complaint of security personnel Sartaj Ali in Civil Lines Police Station.
Police
have requested the Medical College authorities for medically examining the victim,
so that what has happened to her can be ascertained.
During
interrogation, the culprit revealed his name i.e., Varis and the fact that he is
a resident of Maheshpur Phatak, Quarsi. He also told that he works just outside
the hospital as a worker in a medical store.
