Ranchi (Jharkhand), August 31: A 13-year-old girl was allegedly gang-raped twice, in total by seven minors on August 26 in a secluded locality under the jurisdiction of Mandar police station about 45 km from the state headquarters. The heinous crime becomes more appalling, when one comes to know that the kingpin who strategized the incident alongwith his friends was a foster brother (munh bola bhai) of the gang raped victim. 

An FIR was lodged on Friday after the victim informed her family about the shocking ordeal she went through. Post the complaint, four accused, who are already in the police dragnet are all minors, including the acquaintance of the victim. Police will be conducting age determination test to ascertain their age before producing them in the courts.

“The culprits who are still at large would soon be behind the bars. We have formed a special team to investigate this case,” said Superintendent of Police, Ranchi (Rural), Naushad Alam. Speaking exclusively to the Lifenews correspondent he shared that a massive manhunt is being conducted by the special team. “We have their and their parent’s phone numbers on surveillance and also conducting raids on their relatives and friends' houses, where there is a possibility of them hiding.”

SP Ranchi (Rural) further elaborated to Lifenews that the police are doing their best and not leaving out any possibility to arrest the others as soon as possible. “We will soon solve the case. The four arrested are all minors and we assume that those who are on the run are also minors. However, we will be able to ascertain this only after we catch them.”

Initial investigations reveal that the kingpin minor, who was acting as though he was the victim’s foster brother, lured the victim with a joyride on a bike which she agreed to. The boy had fixed the meeting point around half km away from her residence. When the victim came, she found two other boys there. These others forcefully took her to the forest where they snatched her mobile and raped her one by one. She unsuccessfully tried to run away from their clutches. After two hours, they returned her mobile phone after which the victim called her foster brother.

Later, the victim’s ordeal gets more horrendous, the foster brother of the victim picks her up from the place where she was gang raped and took her to his home, as though for safety. However, here she is again gang raped and this time by her foster brother and his three other friends the whole night. In the morning she somehow managed to reach her home to share her ordeal with her parents.

According to police the victim, who is a student of class seventh, came in touch with the minor who faked himself as a foster brother, during the marriage ceremony of her mausi held in March. That was when they exchanged their contact numbers and began to talk. She said that he was insisting to meet her hence when he called her she agreed to meet unaware of his immoral intentions.

Senior Police officials have confirmed that based on the victim’s statement an FIR was lodged under the relevant sections of IPC and POCSO Act. A medical test had already been conducted upon the victim.

Police is saying that we are using all electronic and scientific methods to catch the others accused.
