Muzzafarnagar
(Uttar Pradesh), September 21: A 17-year-old minor girl was raped allegedly by
two men in Western Uttar Pradesh’s Muzaffarnagar. The sexual assault came to
fore when the accused shared the video of the crime on social media, police
said on Monday.
The accused,
identified as Shubham and Ashish, have been arrested by the police and booked
under relevant sections of IPC and POSCO Act.
The incident
took place on Sunday in a village under the Bhopa police station, Station House
Officer Subhash Babu said. According to the complaint lodged by the victim’s
mother, the accused had lured her into a garden on the pretext of getting her a
guava from a tree. Sensing an opportunity, the duo overpowered the minor and raped
her.
Police say
that the duo – Ashish and Shubham – to boast and to spite had uploaded the
video on social media sites, but that became their worst strategic mistake.
