Amreli (Gujarat), August 28: A
16-year-old girl who ran away from her house was allegedly kidnaped and raped
thrice by a car driver from Ahmedabad. The survivor is from Anida village in
the Amreli district of Gujarat.
On Wednesday, the police took into
custody the accused named Ganpat Parmar for alleged rape and kidnapping. Based
on the complaint filed by the survivor, he was also booked under several sections
of Protection Of Children from Sexual Offence (POCSO) Act.
According to the complaint, on 19th
August after her father scolded her for domestic work the girl left her home. After
leaving home she was standing near the bus stop, and she asked for a lift from
Parmar who was passing by in a car.
The girl in her police complaint
stated that Parmar the accused then took advantage and took the girl to various
places like Somnath, Dhasa in Bhavnagar, and Bavla, where he allegedly raped
her more than once.
4 days later, on 23rd
August, Parmar is accused by the survivor of sending her back to her hometown
by bus.
Based on the complaint the police
have booked Parmar and started an investigation but the accused has not been
arrested yet.
Speaking to Life News about the case, Amreli Superintendent of Police Nirlipat Rai said, "An FIR (First Information Report) has been registered and we are in the process of conducting an investigation in this matter. We will take a decision to arrest the accused once the investigation is completed. In the meantime, I can't divulge any more information in this case."
