Ghaziabad (Uttar Pradesh), August 10: In a bizarre case mirroring the complete breakdown of law and order in state, only after the intervention of Courts has a complaint of multiple gang rape, human trafficking for sex – multiple times, forceful marriage, recording of obscene videos and blackmailing has been registered by Uttar Pradesh Police.

The survivor, a resident of Kavi Nagar locality of Ghaziabad, has shared her complaint, which only after the court’s direction has been registered by the local police station.

The victim in her complaint has named her neighbour, Sandeep, as the main accused. Alongwith him, she has also accused three more individuals, including her neighbour’s wife, for the ordeal she underwent where she has been sexually and psychologically abused and her rights trampled upon.

Now, the case has been registered with the local police and the SHO has assured a thorough investigation and action based on the facts that will emerge from the investigation. Since the courts are already informed, the survivor and her husband now feel that the outcome will fetch them justice.

The survivor in her complaint has recounted her ordeal. She says that she is a native of Etah but currently resides in Bamheta village of Kavi Nagar with her husband. Sandeep and his wife were their neighbours. On May 17, the victim’s husband had gone out for work. Sensing an opportunity, Sandeep came alongwith his wife, and took them to Etah on the pretext of eating mangoes. She was told that they will be back by evening. Since, they were neighbours and shared a healthy relationship; the victim did not feel there might be any foul play in the invitation.

On reaching Etah, Sandeep took her to the house of a person called Amar Singh. Within a short duration, they were served food, but after consuming it she soon became unconscious. She regained her consciousness only the next morning when she found herself in a disheveled and compromising state.

Amar Singh told her that he had ‘bought her’ from Sandeep and his wife for a sum of Rupees Sixty Thousand. Since then, the survivor was raped by both Amar Singh and Sandeep, multiple times. After he had his fill and a good 3 weeks of such sexual and psychological ordeal, on June 6, Amar Singh handed her over to Sandeep.

But the ill-fated victim’s tale of woes does not end here. Sandeep promptly sold her again, to a youth called Monu Pundir – this time for a sum of Rupees Forty thousand. She is then handed over to her new ‘owner’ – again in Etah district. However, the young Monu, entered a wedlock with her – though illegal and against her wishes, before enjoying the proceeds of his 40 thousand rupees.

She is again raped multiple times by Monu and Sandeep. In situations where she protested, the victim says that her hands and feet were tied.

Around a fortnight later, on 22nd June, she managed to run away from Monu’s house somehow.

She alongwith her husband tried registering her case with the Police but was turned away allegedly. She then sought justice from Courts – and then only the case has been registered.

Apart from accusing the victim of her ordeal – she has also claimed that Sandeep is involved in prostitution. She has also complained that the accused made obscene videos of her, during the multiple sexual assaults that she went through.

When such sexual crimes keep surfacing repeatedly in Uttar Pradesh, politicians and administrations continue to maintain that the law and order situation has improved in the state. Though the frequency and its severity (as per data) don't support that claim.
