Pilibhit
(Uttar Pradesh), September 11: Uttar Pradesh police claimed they have been successful
in arresting two of the accused in a case of gang-rape a minor girl in Pilibhit.
The third accused is absconding and a manhunt has been launched to nab him.
The girl,
accompanied by her brother-in-law, was on her way home when the incident
happened. Three bike-borne accused stopped their vehicle and sexually assaulted
her taking advantage of the area being deserted. An FIR was later registered
against the three accused at Amariya police station.
The accused
have been booked under various sections of gang rape and robbery charges including
Posco (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) Act.
"We
inspected the crime scene after registering the FIR. The bike used by the
accused belonged to Jeeshan Ali, who was arrested from the Sungadi area of
Pilibhit," said Pilbhit Superintendent of Police, Dinesh Kumar.
"During
questioning, Jeeshan disclosed the names of Baljeet Singh and Balbeer Singh,
alias Baba. Baljeet has been arrested, while Balbeer is still absconding. Our
teams are searching for him. The two arrested accused were sent to the Pilibhit
district jail," the police official said.
