Namakkal, Tamilnadu, May 14: Police arrested a 16-year-old boy under the POCSO Act for raping a school student (Class XII) who was visited his home during a curfew imposed during the Corona pandemic.
The 17-year-old victim from the Kollimalai area of Namakkal district in Tamilnadu has been staying in Namakkal and studying in class XII. The girl went to her home last month since the curfew was announced. On the first week of May, the girl went to a nearby forest in the Periyacholakkallipatti area alone.
Karthik, 23, and a 16-year-old boy from the same area saw the girl alone when they were passing by. The two went near the girl and forcibly raped her. The girl returned home and told his parents what had happened to her. Immediately the girl’s parent lodged a complaint at the All Women Police Station in Namakkal.
Police began investigating the case and later arrested the minor boy accused of raping the girl on May 15 under the POCSO Act. Police are searching for the other accused Karthik.
