Lakhimpur Khiri (Uttar Pradesh), June 8: Police have arrested five accused for an alleged rape case in Lakhimpur Khiri, in the Northern state of Uttar Pradesh in India. The police is inquiring with the accused about the incident.

According to the police, the incident took place last Friday. Two sisters and three other girls have registered a case against five youth for gang rape. They have alleged that they went to the Fulbehar area as farm labour. The five accused youth allegedly gave them a drink laced with some drugs and raped them after that, they said.

The police is saying that these girls had earlier registered a case against youth on Friday for not giving them their wages but later, on Saturday they changed their statement and alleged that they were raped by five persons. The police is confused and wondering which version to believe.

SP Vijay Dhul said that the change in the statement by the victims has puzzled them. We have registered the FIR based on their statement. We will send the girls for a medical examination. We have arrested all the accused and are interrogating them, he added.

In their statement, the girls said that one of the accused youth, who is the owner of the farm, called them for labour work. In the evening, the owner of the farm called his friends.

They offered the girls a drink which was drugged, the victims alleged. After drinking the drink they went unconscious. Taking advantage of the situation, all the five youth gang-raped the girls, said the victims.
