Ghaziabad (Uttar Pradesh), October 19: Local police have registered a case of attempted rape and assault of a married woman by her in-laws with the support of her husband and other members of the family on Saturday. The case has come to light from Uttar Pradesh’s Ghaziabad.

Police say a case of alleged attempt to rape by the brother-in-law of a married woman has been reported by a resident of Nandgram in Ghaziabad. They said that the in-laws beat her up and threatened to kill her if their demand for dowry was not met and the indebted husband was under tremendous pressure from money lenders who had been demanding repayment of loans to him.

The victim recorded her statement before the police and on the basis of her complaint police have registered a report against six people including the complainant’s husband and her brother-in-law under relevant sections and the case is under investigation.

The victim in her complaint said that she was married 11 years ago to a resident of Mathura and has four children with him. She further said that the husband had taken loans from many people, and in order to repay the loan her in-laws are pressurizing the victim to bring two lakh rupees from her home as dowry.

As the demand was not met, they beat her up and threatened to kill her. The married woman also alleged that her brother-in-law lusted on her and tried to rape her one day. The husband and his nephew also supported him in the act.
