Satna (MP) June 2: Madhya
Pradesh Police nabbed a man, for allegedly raping a minor girl, from
neighboring Uttar Pradesh on May 31. The arrest was made nearly two years after
the incident happened.
Identified as
Satyendra Shukla, the accused has been evading arrest by disguising himself as
a sadhu or priest and was living in a temple in Chandauli district of UP.
The accused, a resident
of a village under the Sahabpur Police Station in Madhya Pradesh, had raped a
17-year-old girl in March 2019, and since then police was on the lookout for
him. The police said the accused had raped the minor on the pretext of treating
her through black magic.
Police raided several
locations in a bid to catch Shukla but in vain. A reward of Rs 5000 was also
announced for the arrest of the accused. Eventually, the police department's
cyber cell got involved and managed to trace Shukla in Chanduali. The accused
had disguised himself as a sadhu to evade arrest, local reports said.
"It was after one
year and 10 months that the accused was arrested from a temple in Chandauli
district of Uttar Pradesh," Sabhapur Police Station In-charge, SPS Chandel
