Gaya (Bihar), June 8: A youth who has been accused of raping a four-year-old girl was thrashed by villagers in Gaya, Bihar, last Saturday. The accused has been admitted to the hospital for treatment and his condition has been reported to be critical.
According to the police, a four-year-old girl was raped and killed last Saturday in Gaya. The youth suspected of being the perpetrator of the crime, was identified as Mohammed Sidhu, a resident of Manpur, Pehani Colony.
When the villagers got to know about this incident they reached the spot, caught the accused a short distance away from the spot, and thrashed him badly.
By the time police reached the spot, the accused was half dead. Police took him to Jai Prakash Narayan Hospital for treatment. Hospital authorities say that the accused is in critical condition.
It has been reported that the accused has gone to jail in 2012 for raping and killing a girl. After police took the accused into custody, the angered villagers asked the police personnel to hand him over to them but the police did not do so.
Angry villagers reached Panchayati Akhada Traffic Police Outpost and started throwing bricks and stones. Somehow, the police personnel was able to save their lives.
The police personnel informed about the attack by the villagers to police headquarters so an extra police force was sent to the station. But the villagers were still not ready to move away.
Finally, city DSP Rajkumar Shah reached the spot and pacified the crowd assuring them that strict action would be taken against that accused.
