Kochi (Kerala), September 3: A shocking incident of sexual crime against a minor has come to light from Kochi. According to the case filed by Kerala Police, a 17-year-old minor was allegedly raped and impregnated by a 20-year-old young man.
The rape would
have gone unreported had the survivor not flushed her premature foetus in the
toilet, one which she had delivered in a private hospital’s washroom, and was caught
due to an inquisitive fellow patient who used the toilet after her.
The survivor had
gone to a private hospital in Kochi for a medical check-up with her mother.
While waiting the rape victim experienced abdominal pain. She went to the
washroom, here she delivered a pre-mature baby whom she then flushed down the
toilet. She then returned for further procedures, without informing anyone
about the incident.
The matter came to
light when another patient, who used the restroom after her, spotted the
remains of the prematurely-born foetus in the commode. On enquiry, the survivor said
that she was raped and impregnated by a man and that she was pregnant till she
used the washroom. She also confessed that she delivered a premature baby in
washroom and had flushed the mass, instead of revealing about it.
Kerala Police has
filed a case against the man from Wayanad , based on the complaint filed by the
survivor’s mother, and arrested him. The police also said that the survivor had
kept it all a secret and hadn’t disclosed anything about the assault on her or
about her pregnancy to anyone.
Local Police have
registered a case under Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act
against the 20-year-old man from Wayanad.
