Jaipur (Rajasthan), June 15: An accused who was out on bail in a rape case was arrested after he allegedly killed the victim in Rajasthan on Monday. However, the accused tried to flee and was shot by the police. 


The accused Vijay sustained three bullet injuries, including two in the stomach and one in one arm. He was taken to the hospital but he succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment later in the night.


According to the police the alleged rape occurred in November 2020 in Sirohi district of Rajasthan when the victim charged the accused of raping her.


According to police, the man stabbed the victim to death— a widow in her 20s — on June 12, after entering her home dressed as a woman.


“The accused was arrested and was in judicial custody for six months. After he was granted bail, he went to the house of the victim on June 12 and attacked her,” said Additional Director General of Police in charge of the Crime department, Ravi Prakash Meharda.


Sirohi Superintendent of Police Dharmendra Singh said the accused, in his early 20s, was arrested after killing the accused on Sunday.


“After Vijay entered the house, he stabbed the victim. The victim’s younger sister, who was with her at the time of the attack, also sustained injuries while trying to save her. The accused was arrested on Sunday,” Mr Singh told media.


The police, that the accused had come out on bail in April and had been constantly threatening the woman to withdraw the case but she was not responding to his repeated calls. The woman was working in a village Aanganwadi.
