Nawada (Bihar), September 12: A youth accused of rape was sentenced to 10 years rigorous imprisonment by the Sessions Court in Nawada district. He has also been fined. First Additional District and Sessions Judge Rajesh Kumar pronounced the sentence to Sonu alias Rohit, a resident of New Area of ​​the city. 

 

The incident is related to a case registered at the women's police station. The victim, a resident of Shahpur of Mufasisal Police Station area, had gone to Vijay Bazar in the city to buy some vegetables on August 16, 2016. The accused Sonu took the victim to his friend's house on a motorcycle and assaulted the girl there and raped her. An FIR was lodged by the victim in the Mahila Police Station regarding the incident.

 

On the basis of the statement given by the witnesses of the incident in the court, the judge convicted Sonu under Section 376 of the IPC and sentenced him to rigorous imprisonment for 10 years. He also fined the accused Rs 10,000. He was also sentenced to six months imprisonment and fined Rs 500 for causing harm to the victim under Section 323.

 

Additional Public Prosecutor Devendra Yadav appeared for the prosecution side in the court. The decision in this case has come after five years.
