Lucknow
(Uttar Pradesh), October 20: Another sexual crime has been reported from Uttar Pradesh’s
capital city Lucknow, where a retired DSP has allegedly been raping his
domestic maid for several months. The woman claims that she went to the police
station several times but they refused to register her complaint earlier. The
police began their probe only on Monday when farmer leader Amar Singh Lodhi
intervened, registering a case under several provisions including rape.
The
victim is a young woman who lives with her husband in a rented house in
Tondekheda area which comes under the jurisdiction of Ashiyana Police station.
She used to do household chores as a maid at the accused’s house. The accused
retired DSP Aftab Alam is a resident of Ratan Khand area.
The
woman narrated her ordeal, that the retired DSP used to visit her house and
threaten her with dire consequences, and only then she would relent to be sexually
assaulted by him, this continued for several months. She also alleged that she
kept visiting Ashiyana police station for several days to register a complaint
against the accused but instead of filing a case they started harassing her. The
woman was really upset by all this; at last she asked for help from farmer’s
leader Amar Singh Lodhi, who went to the police station and created pressure on
police resulting in the case being registered. Thankfully, now the police have
started investigations as well.
Inspector
Dheeraj Kumar Shukla of Ashiyana police station said that there was no delay in
registering a complaint and nobody refused to file one.
On
the complaint of the victim a case has been registered against the retired DSP
Aftab Alam on Monday under relevant sections IPC including 376 (rape) and death
threats. Investigation will be done and strict action will be taken against the
accused, he assured.
