Sonipat
(Haryana), August 12: A horrific incident of sexual crime has surfaced from
Haryana’s Sonipat, less than 70 kilometres from the country’s Parliament House
in Delhi, where two minor girls – aged 14 and 16 – were gang raped by four and
later murdered.
The police has
registered a case under relevant sections of law, including POSCO and have
arrested all the four accused, said Ravi Kumar, SHO of Kundli police station,
under whose jurisdiction lies the locality where the crime occurred, over the
phone.
According to the
preliminary investigations, all the accused, aged between 22 and 25 years, are migrant workers from Bihar and lived in a
rented room next to the house of the girls. The girls, aged 14 and 16, lived
with their mother and also worked as labourers.
In the middle of
the intervening night of 5th and 6th August, the accused
forcibly entered into their house, threatened their mother and raped both the
girls. The ordeal of the two victims did not end with their rape, later they
were also forced to drink insecticide.
It was only when
the condition of one of the girl’s worsened that they allowed the mother to
take them for medical treatment. They instructed the mother to tell all
concerned that her daughters were bitten by a snake. Even though the girls were
immediately taken to a hospital in Delhi, one girl was pronounced ‘brought dead’
on arrival, soon the other sister also expired, even though she was medically
being treated.
Kumar later said,
“Initially fearing for their lives, the helpless mother told the hospital
authorities that both sisters were bitten by a snake. However, the Police felt
that there might be some foul play involved. They later convinced the woman to
share the true story.”
“Our team visited
the hospital to verify these facts; the doctors’ observations also corroborated
that both the girls died due to pesticide and not due to snake bite,” Police officials
said.
Even the post
mortem report confirmed that both girls were tortured, sexually assaulted and
poisoned. Police immediately swung into action and on Tuesday took all the four
accused into custody, as per the SHO.
The four men hail
from Bihar and after the gang rape of the minors issued threats to the mother
with the life of the victims. “Now, I want justice for both my daughters”.
Four youths identified as Dukhan Pandit, Ram Suhag, Foolchand and Arun Kumar have been named in the FIR by the victims’ mother. Police officials insist that appropriate sections have been used while registering the case under POCSO Act and other relevant sections of IPC.
