August 17: The Hyderabad Police on Monday said that they have registered a case
of rape against a staff member of a government hospital following a complaint
by a woman who was an attendant of a patient.
The 38-year-old woman,
an attendant of a patient alleged she was raped at a state-run hospital here,
said the police reportedly.
The woman along with
her sister came to the hospital for treatment on August 5 for some ailment of her brother-in-law and they got
him admitted there. After her brother-in-law got discharged a few days ago, she
filed a complaint with the police stating that one person who claimed that he was
an outsourced employee at the hospital allegedly raped her.
The local police filed
a case following a complaint registered by the victim who was sent for medical
examination, the police said. Further probe continues in the case.
In another incident, a
woman in Hyderabad has accused a technical staff of a hospital of raping her
and her sister. The victim approached the police in Hyderabad on Monday
alleging she and her sister were kidnapped, confined and raped for four days by
a lab technician at the Gandhi Hospital. The woman in her thirties from
Mahabubnagar district, in her complaint to the Chilkalguda Police, said the incident occurred when she and her sister visited Gandhi Hospital along with
her brother-in-law to consult a doctor on August 4, a local media house
reported.
The police said that
the suspect identified as Uma Maheshwar, a lab technician, confined the two
sisters in a room and raped them for four days. The woman also said that while
she managed to escape from the suspect, her sister had gone missing. It is
learnt that the woman approached the Mahabubnagar Town-I police first and later
lodged a complaint with the Chilkalguda police here. Police said Uma Maheshwar
had absconded.
The police said a case was booked and the victim was sent for medical examination and for psychological help to the Bharosa Centre.
