Meerut (Uttar Pradesh), August 17: A quarrel between a newly-wed
couple, which could have easily spiraled into a case of separation, under the
guise of dowry harassment, was successfully sorted by Uttar Pradesh Police
officers by requesting the husband to stop using mobile phone in bedroom.
A girl, resident of Daurala, was married in July 2020. Within
a year, the relationship turned sour and the victim approached the police to
register a case of dowry harassment against her husband and his family members.
The SSP Crime felt something amiss in the case. He hence transferred
the case to the family counseling centre. At the Counseling Centre, the CO
Rupali Roy and Centre incharge Monica Jindal counseled the couple. It was during
the counseling, that they found out that there was no dowry harassment, but rather
the case was of sexual expectation, exploitation, and beating of the woman.
The woman revealed that it was unnatural sex that her
husband demanded, which was the real cause of conflict. She alleged that her
husband was of the habit of showing her porn films, and wanted to imitate the
act with her.
The husband who worked in a Noida based private company was
torturing the wife mentally and physically after showing those films. If she
opposed his sexual overtones, he used to beat her badly. The victim confessed
that apart from this there she had no problem with her husband.
Police sorted the case by restricting the use of mobile
phone in the bedroom, by the husband.
On his part, the husband agreed to quit the habit of watching
porn films and also promised that henceforth he will not use mobile phone
inside their bedroom. He even submitted a written statement in this regard.
