Meerut (Uttar Pradesh), August 9: As per reports, a 10-year-old
girl has been raped on Friday at gunpoint by her neighbour in Mawana, a town in
Meerut district of Uttar Pradesh. Monu Gurjar - the accused is still absconding.
The dreadful crime has been reported from Rambagh Colony of Mawana
town. The survivor’s parents are daily wagers.
As per the complaint filed with the local Police, at 11:30
in the morning on Friday, 6th August, Monu Gurjar - the accused, entered
the house while the parents were away. The 10 year old victim and her six year
old brother were all alone in the house. The accused saw the parent’s absence
as an opportunity and sent the 6 year old boy to buy something from the nearby
shop. Soon after that, he closed the door and raped the 10 year old girl,
allegedly at gunpoint.
The victim used to live at the accused’s house on rent. Later,
he threatened her of dire consequences if she shares her ordeal with anyone.
The frightened girl did not tell anything about the incident to anyone. Later,
when her health deteriorated she informed her family members about the incident.
The parents informed their other relatives about the crime
and together with the rape survivor, reached Mawana police station. The situation
worsened when this group of people including some other locals came to know
about the heinous crime and they all gathered around the police station in
order to pressurize the police to take action against the accused.
The Police later recorded the statement of the victim under
relevant sections of IPC and informed senior officials, including Meerut SSP
Prabhakar Chaudhary, about the incident.
On Sunday, the Police sent the girl for medical examination
and have launched a hunt to nab the accused. Meanwhile, Mawana police station
in-charge (acting) Jagbir Singh, said several raids were conducted to nab the
accused, as per information on his presence, but he has not yet been arrested.
