Firojpur, Punjab, May 13: A minor girl who was living with her
grandmother was
gang-raped after her female relative lured her into going with
her for a job interview. Instead, the girl was duped and raped. The incident was
reported last week in Firojpur in Punjab.
Police arrested the female relative of the victim and is on the lookout
for other accused.
Police said the 15-year-old victim was living with her
grandmother along with her siblings as her mother was jailed in connection to a
murder of an individual in the past. Also the girl's father died some time back
and there was no one to take care of the girl and her siblings so they moved in
with their grandmother.
A female relative approached the girl and asked her to accompany
her to a housing board colony promising to help her get a good job.
She took the victim to a house where they were supposed to have
a discussion regarding her employment. Instead when she went there, three men were
already in the house. Instead of talking about the job, the three men raped the
minor girl.
Next day the girl somehow managed to escape from the house and
return to her home. She told another relative about this incident and she
helped her register a complaint at the police station. After the complaint was
registered, the police sent the minor girl for medical checkup.
The case incharge Rajwant Kaur arrested the victim's woman
relative who took the victim to housing board colony where she got raped.
According to the police, one of the accused Baljinder Singh is
said to be the secretary of former MLA of Akali Dal party.
The victim had a press conference last Friday demanding arrest
of all the accused.
Baljinder Singh is said to have threatened the victim to take
back the complaint. He told her that if she didn't take back her complaint he
would make the video viral which he had shot of her when she was raped.
