Gaya (Bihar), August 23: In a gruesome incident which occurred in Gaya city, in Bihar on Monday evening, a 32-year-old woman was abducted to an island formed by Falgu river by two persons and then she was raped by 14 men who took turns with her.

 

Police sprung into action after onlookers in the area informed them about the abduction. Seeing the police, the miscreants fled from the insland in the nude, leaving behind their clothes, shoes and slippers. The condition of the victim is said to be critical. She has been admitted to Magadh Medical College.

 

The incident occurred in Mufassil police station area of ​​Gaya. Here two youths took a 32-year-old woman on the bike to an island formed in the midst of Falgu river. In a few minutes, 12 more youth riding in five bikes also reached there. They raped the woman in turns. When the victim protested, she was beaten up badly.

 

Though villagers saw the two young men bringing the woman by their bike to the riverbank, the villagers were not able to see the men due to the darkness. Also, the villagers didn't figure out that there was any danger to the woman who was seen riding in the middle with one man riding the bike and the other sitting pillion.

 

But when five more bikes passed through the same route, the villagers got suspicious. Some villagers went to the river bank they could see the lights of mobile phones on the island and they decided to inform the police as they suspected that something was amiss there.

 

Police came promptly and after seeking the five bikes on the island some of the policemen swam to the island but the alleged rapists seeing the police swam away, most in semi nude condition and a few stark naked. But due to the darkness, the police was unable to identify anyone of the youths fleeing the island.

 

Police found an unconscious semi-nude woman on the island and they took her to Magadh Medical College where she is said to be critical.

 

All the youths are suspected to be residents of different areas of the city and of Manpur block. In the investigation so far, it has been found that the victim is a resident of a nearby village. The distance of her village from the crime spot is about 15 km. How did the miscreants kidnap the woman is not yet known. The police are waiting for the woman to regain consciousness.

 

SP Ghuran Mandal said that we have registered the case against unidentified persons. "When our team reached the spot, all the accused ran away from there. They left their shoes, clothes and other accessories on the spot. We found the woman in a half-naked and unconscious state. The victim has been sent to hospital for treatment," informed SP Mandal.

 

Police has also seized the bikes and are in the process of finding out the registration numbers of the bikes to identify the alleged rapists.
