Meerut (Uttar Pradesh), October 16: Once again a shocking incident of sexual crime has been reported from Uttar Pradesh, a state where many statistics point that around 20 percent of all crime against women in India occurs. This time the accused is a police officer who has been allegedly raping a woman for the last 3 years by threatening to kill the victim’s daughter in the state’s Meerut district.

The accused Arun Kumar is a police inspector posted at Bhadrakali police station in Hastinapur. On Thursday a complaint was registered against him after the victim met the SSP and shared her ordeal. In her complaint, she alleges that the accused has been raping her for three years. The accused sexually assaulted the victim, by keeping her innocent daughter at gunpoint. He also used to threaten her that he will make an obscene video of the victim viral.

The victim is a 34-year-old married woman who is a resident of colony under the jurisdiction of Brahamapuri police station. She told the SSP that her friend’s scooty was stolen three years back. She had accompanied her friend to the Madhavpuram police station to register an FIR. The accused Arun Kumar was the in-charge of that police station at that time. The inspector took her phone number and started talking to her to lure her into having sex.

On August 15 2018, the accused reached her residence on the pretext of investigation. He was determined to sexually assault her, however, when the woman resisted, he allegedly put a pistol on her daughter’s head and raped her and also recorded the whole incident on his phone. Later he used to blackmail her by saying that he will make the video viral and also threatened to kill her.

On December 6, 2020, the inspector called her and asked her to come to Hastinapur police station, she resisted saying she was at her friend’s place in Ganganagar. However he forced her to meet him, and when the woman reached Mussoorie area (which comes under Incholi police station), he reached there in his car and took her to Bhadrakali police station. When scolded by another police officer he took the woman to a forested area of Hastinapur and sexually assaulted her there in his car.

The accused also threatened to implicate her husband in a false case of drugs if she resisted him again. The woman was tired and troubled by the tyranny of the police officer so she decided to take a step against the crime. So she gathered all her courage and went to meet the SSP to register a complaint against him. The SSP has handed her case to SP Dehat Keshav Kumar for further investigations.

When SP Dehat started investigations he even found a one and half-year-old video of them in which the accused is dancing with the victim in a police uniform on the song of Sapna Chaudhary (Haryanvi dancer). This video was viral all over the internet with many views on it. Another policeman is also visible in the video, but he is in plain clothes.

SP Dehat has said that he will thoroughly investigate the case and the video, including where, when, and how it was recorded. He further added that a whole team is now involved in solving this case.

SSP has taken cognizance in this case and a complaint will be registered against Arun Kumar as the woman has made serious allegations against the accused.

Prior trial will also be investigated and action will be taken after the inquiry report, said Prabhakar Chaudhary, the SSP Meerut.
