Darbhanga (Bihar), May 27: In a shocking incident, a young man raped his five-year-old cousin in Darbhanga in the North-Eastern state of Bihar in India.
The incident occurred in Hanuman Nagar area of Darbhanga last week. The alleged rapist, aged 19 years lured the child with a promise to buy her chocolate from a nearby shop. Instead, the young man took her behind the bushes and raped her.
The family of the girl has gone to attend a marriage function in the area when the incident occurred. When the family returned home, the girl was not feeling well and she complained of pain to her mother. When her mother checked she found the girl bleeding and also swelling in her private parts.
On inquiring the child recounted the events including the rape. The family of the girl reported this incident to Hayaghat Police Station and registered a case. The police arrested the youth after that.
The police said the accused has confessed his crime. The family members are in shock after this incident.
The parents of the victim want strict action taken against the culprit so that such incidents are not repeated in the future.
This is a very scary moment for our family, said the father of the child. Such incidents would prevent anyone from believing in relationships and family, he added.
Police official Tariq Anwar has confirmed the incident and said that the accused is 19-year-old. “The accused has confessed his crime. We have registered the complaint under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and sent the accused to judicial remand”, said the police official.
