Nagpur (Maharashtra), June 17: Nagpur police have arrested a 25-year-old youth for raping a seven-year-old girl. The incident occurred last Saturday in a village of Katol Tehsil.

 

According to the police the girl was playing on the school ground. The accused saw the girl and took her to the school toilet. There he allegedly raped the girl and threatened to kill her if she told anyone about the incident.

 

Meanwhile, passers-by heard the sound of the girl crying. They rushed to the toilet but the accused saw them coming so he escaped from the spot.

 

The passers-by identified the youth as one named Ankush Bhaskar, a resident of the same village. The passers-by also informed the family members of the victim.

 

After the girl was united with her family, they lodged a complaint against Ankush Bhaskar. Police have registered the case under article 376 (a) (b) and 506. Kotal police sent the girl for medical examination and arrested the accused. He was produced in the local court and sent to judicial remand.
