    CJI calls for urgent correction of gender imbalance in the judiciary to grant 50 percent reservation to women

    Women constitute about 30 percent of the lower judiciary; 11.5 percent in High Courts and 12 percent in the Supreme Court. Also out of 1.7 million advocates, only 15 percent are women. And only 2 percent of elected representatives in state bar councils are women and no representation in Bar Council of India
